Tracie Daly
MC & Host
Ballymaloe Festival of Food at
Ballymaloe Grainstore & Ballymaloe House.
For the fourth consecutive year, I’ve had the privilege of organising and MC’ing the Cook The Books stage at the Ballymaloe Festival of Food. This vibrant three-day event welcomes passionate chefs and acclaimed cookbook authors from around the globe, each sharing their expertise and culinary stories live on stage. It’s an inspiring celebration of food, learning, and creativity.
Ballymaloe Festival of Food has become a cornerstone of Ireland’s food scene, renowned for its engaging educational talks, quirky pop-up dining experiences, an Irish producers’ village bursting with local talent, a tempting line-up of food trucks, all underpinned by a zero-waste ethos. The festival’s picturesque farm setting keeps it closely connected to its roots as the home of Irish gastronomy, providing a meaningful backdrop where sustainability and innovation thrive.
The experience is always an honour—giving a platform to outstanding chefs, innovators, and producers, and bringing together a lively community of food lovers for an unforgettable weekend celebrating everything that makes Irish food culture so exceptional.
Savour Kilkenny at The Taste Kilkenny Stage
As a proud Kilkenny woman, my Medieval city and county mean the world to me. When the wonderful Marian Flannery entrusted me with the Taste Kilkenny Stage—giving me the honour of curating the talent for two full days as well as taking on the MC role—I knew it was the perfect opportunity to share my deep love of food right here in my home city, at the very foot of the magnificent Kilkenny Castle.
Hosting and programming the Taste Kilkenny Stage allowed me to showcase the best of Kilkenny’s culinary community, connect audiences with some of Ireland’s most exciting food producers and chefs, and bring fresh energy to the local food scene. Each demo and discussion is set against the spectacular backdrop of Kilkenny Castle, surrounded by artisan food stalls and vibrant street food, capturing everything that makes our city such a special destination for food lovers.
The festival’s focus on sustainable food systems this year inspired lively conversations, unforgettable tastings, and community engagement, all while celebrating the rich heritage and innovative spirit of Kilkenny’s food producers. Sharing this experience with both locals and visitors was a true privilege, reaffirming my passion for bringing people together through food and highlighting what makes Kilkenny’s culture and hospitality so unique.
Taste of Sligo
Sligo’s vibrant food culture has truly captured my heart, and it’s been a privilege to serve as MC at The Taste of Sligo Food Festival for the past two years. Set in the lively Queen Maeve Square, this fantastic three-day event brings together the best of Sligo’s culinary scene, from renowned chefs and cookbook authors to passionate local producers and food innovators. Curating and hosting the cookery demonstration stage has allowed me to introduce both local stars and celebrity chefs, connecting hungry audiences with the region’s unique flavours and remarkable talent.
Live music, an enticing lineup of artisan stalls and food trucks, and a family-friendly atmosphere make the festival a highlight in Sligo’s calendar and a must-visit for food lovers nationwide. Each demo and discussion thrives in the welcoming crowd and energetic surroundings, celebrating Sligo’s rich heritage and innovative food spirit.
This year, festival conversations also spotlighted sustainability, supporting local business, and a joyful community spirit that brings visitors and residents together. It’s an honour each year to showcase everything that makes Sligo’s food, hospitality, and people so special.
