What a difference a year makes.
2019 moved a lot quicker than I could have anticipated, however I made a decision to roll with it by ensuring I minded myself. I ate well, I slept well, I worked around the clock when needed and I also ensured down time, and that that had to include fun, family and friends . To switch off is the key to longevity. Time management ensures productivity, personal growth and down-time. It isn't easy putting systems in place, it takes time and effort, it causes frustration, sometimes upheaval but in the end you are so happy you bothered as systems run a business.
To love what you do is a massive achievement. It can take years to design your ideal scenario. Which in turn takes conscious and active attention and physical steps. The perfect job doesn't just happen. You have to demonstrate capabilities and ability and the willingness to constantly evolve, grow and learn from peers as well as the new kid, who walks in full of life energy but no experience: do not be mistaken as there is great growth paying attention to how others can influence and aid your world and that new kid has equal amounts to give. Remember your work environment could be the most productive and impressive loop. Ensure you are in the company of a GROWTH mindset and steer so clear of an environment that is dominated by a FIXED mindset.
If you truly want to grow and develop then look around at the company you keep. Personally and professionally. Take it apart and if the pro's outweigh the con's that is a growth environment. If the opposite is the case make changes and fast. Your progression relies on your environment. It is ok to grow and change, just remember certain areas of your life will also have to grow and change to accommodate that.
In 2018 I made a bloody bold and very tough decision to build my own ladder. I had no where else to grow in the amazing position I held at the time. As a result I needed to give serious thought to what I wanted and needed. Self-reflection is gruelling! Who are you? What do you believe in? What are your strengths? What are your Values? What do you want in 5yrs? How are your beliefs serving you? What thoughts are destructive and need serious addressing? Is that a limiting belief?........... I had to start at zero and take apart what was my life and reconstruct it to achieve what i really wanted. None of that journey was easy. I left East Cork, moved home, studied and threw myself into brain food by studying psychology, management, food........I invested all of my savings into creating TDAYS (Tracie Daly At Your Service).
I have never been happier. It has been so daunting, so tiring, so gruelling, so nerve wrecking, and I'd do it all over again. Every day I learn and that is what keeps me interested and allows me to have a GROWTH mindset.
Thanks for stopping by,
& enjoy reflecting on your 2019.
